What great expectations for the New Year! Global Projects is looking forward to another stellar year serving the Lord through our mission teams and trips as well as our youth department of Girls with Great Potential. We are excited at how the Lord is bringing resources and volunteers to help us expand our vision and reach as many people as possible.
I am excited about our our Passport to a New Life our Human Trafficking initiative which will hold its first Town Hall Meeting on January 25, 2011 on the campus of Wayne State University. We have sought and found other organizations in Michigan who are also combatting this crime against our women and children on a local level. We are joining ourselves to walk with others to make a difference. We have also been approved to initiate the Rescue and Restore Coalition for Michigan. The honor is to work to be a bridge that will bring together the leaders and agencies who are working in Michigan as abolitionist against this 21st century slavery. The excitement is that we are coming together to send a resounding "NO" to this type of activities in our community.
The Girls with Great Potential program will move to a monthly format to deliver our Seven Point Currivculum. This program will hold its orientation January 15th and with great expectancy on behalf of our staff and volunteers we are excited to offer our young girls 8-12 years old opportunity to have fun, interactive activities that offer girls hope as we help them in making wise decisions, engage their critical thinking skills, build relationships and arouse their enjoyment of learning as they become global citizens.
The Seven Point Curriculum consists of: Global Citizenship, Cultural Heritage, Health and Fitness, Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development, Educational Enrichment, Social Skills and Etiquette and Self-Esteem and Peer Pressure.
We have a great Team going to Panama in February 2011 who will be lead by Dr. Lisa Haston Fuller and meet up with other Teams out of Atlanta and Minnesota. They will be engaged in all types of ministry, a youth concert, construction, medical, women and kitchen. The excitement is brewing and the Teams are ready to deliver their best to raise the standard among the people of Panama. Keep this in your prayers.
